We are currently seeking a Field Loss Control Specialist to assist our clients in the forestry and fleet industries reduce risk and improve safety.

Position Overview:

As a Field Loss Control Specialist, you will travel throughout the region to assess client operations, focusing on safety, compliance, and operational efficiency. You’ll work closely with clients to identify areas for improvement, recommend solutions, and help them develop a strong safety culture that reduces risks, enhances productivity, and improves overall safety practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Visits & Operations Evaluation: Travel to client locations (3-4 days a week) to observe and evaluate logging and fleet operations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, including Federal Motor Carrier Safety standards, OSHA, and FICoSE criteria.
  • Compliance Checks: Review client handbooks, conditions to binding coverage, and assess adherence to safety regulations and operational standards.
  • Driver and Equipment Safety: Observe and report on driver behavior, equipment condition (e.g., PPE, fuel tank security, load securing), and overall field safety practices.
  • Training & Development: Assist in designing and conducting driver training courses to ensure safety protocols and operational efficiency are understood and followed.
  • Recommendations & Reporting: Write detailed reports based on observations and provide actionable recommendations to improve safety practices, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Collaborative Client Relationships: Work closely with clients to foster a culture of safety, helping improve productivity, reduce accidents, and effectively manage insurance claims.
  • Industry Networking: Attend industry conferences in South Carolina and other states to stay up-to-date on best practices and safety standards while building valuable relationships.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to communicate technical information effectively to both clients and internal teams.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to identify safety issues and ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Analytical Thinking: Strong math and analytical skills to assess conditions and identify areas for improvement.
  • Independence & Initiative: Ability to act independently in the field and make assessments with minimal supervision.
  • Tech-Savvy: Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other software tools, as well as strong telephonic and internet communication skills.
  • Safety Culture Advocate: Passion for promoting safety and creating cultures that prioritize it to reduce accidents and improve profitability.
  • Driver & Fleet Operations Knowledge: Experience or a strong understanding of fleet operations and driver safety protocols.
  • Industry Knowledge: Prior experience or familiarity with logging operations, Federal Motor Carrier Safety regulations, and OSHA standards is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 – $60,000.00 per year
