Job Description Overview
Explore Utah Valley is looking for a creative and organized Social Media Intern with a passion for digital marketing and discovering new places. This role supports our marketing team in sharing the story of Utah Valley as a welcoming, affordable, and inspiring destination for families and friends. You’ll gain hands-on experience in content creation, social strategy, and community engagement across several digital platforms—all while helping others see why Utah Valley is such a special place to explore.

Content Creation & UGC Management
- Capture and curate photo and video content at local events, attractions, and scenic spots throughout Utah Valley
- Collect, organize, and tag user-generated content (UGC) for potential use across Explore Utah Valley’s channels
- Support editing of videos and photos for Reels, TikToks, and short-form storytelling under staff guidance
- Maintain and organize the Explore Utah Valley photo and video library for easy access and reuse
- Assist in planning influencer and media tours
Writing & Blog Support
- Assist with proofreading and light edits on blog posts for tone and clarity
- Write short captions, headlines, and blurbs for social media and web content
- Repackage existing blog or website content into short-form or visual pieces
- Suggest new story or blog ideas tied to local events, family outings, and seasonal experiences
Multi-Platform Content Assistance
- Assist Social Media Manager in planning, scheduling, and publishing posts across Explore Utah Valley’s social media platforms:
- Instagram and Facebook for storytelling and community engagement
- TikTok for trend-based and creative short videos
- Pinterest for travel inspiration and trip-planning content
- YouTube for destination and experience-based videos
- LinkedIn for professional updates and partner communications
- Ensure brand voice and tone remain consistent across platforms
- Assist in monitoring engagement and track post performance
Content Planning & Brainstorming
- Participate in weekly team meetings to brainstorm and develop new campaign ideas
- Help maintain and organize the monthly content calendar
- Research upcoming events, local trends, and holidays for timely content opportunities
- Contribute to planning, scripting, and storyboarding short-form videos or carousel series
Community Engagement & Partnerships
- Help manage comments, tags, and direct messages across social channels
- Monitor and engage with user-generated posts featuring Utah Valley
- Assist in coordinating giveaways, contests, and influencer partnerships
- Communicate with local businesses, attractions, and event organizers for collaborations or content partnerships
Organization & Reporting
- Keep the shared media library organized and tagged for quick access
- Track engagement metrics, audience growth, and platform insights
- Share monthly highlights and ideas for content improvement with the team
- Assist with marketing projects as needed
- Involvement with Explore Utah Valley events
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Creative thinker with an eye for storytelling and visual detail
- Organized, reliable, and self-motivated
- Passion for digital marketing and exploring local experiences
- Familiar with Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest, YouTube, and LinkedIn
- Comfortable using Canva, CapCut/Edits, or similar tools for light editing
- Interest in photography, videography, or content production
